The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area in Upper West Region, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV has invited the Upper West Regional Police Commander, ACP Peter Ndekugri for a discussion on how to control some negative developments within the Region.
As part of curbing crime and to maintain peace and security, the Upper West Regional Police Commander ACP/Mr. Peter A. Ndekugri together with some Senior Police Officers, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, met the overlord of Waala Traditional Council, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo, his sub chiefs and Queen Mothers to discuss on matters concerning security at the Wa Naa's Palace.
Some significant crime related issues on discussion were cattle rustling, pilfering of motorbikes, circulation of nude pictures and videos and kidnapping
The Regional Commander assured the Chief and people in the region of peace and tranquility before, during and after the yuletide and also urged them to assist by feeding the Police with vital information to clamp down the activities of miscreants in the societies.
He further urged Chiefs and Queen mothers to disseminate the message to members within their jurisdiction especially the youth to desist from engaging in crime related activities since fighting crime is a shared responsibility; he added.The Chief in his submission appreciated the proactive approach of the
Police in solving issues of security concerns and also applauded all inclusive implementation of initiatives.
He assured the Police of his collaboration to curb the persistent crime by submitting applications for the creation of neighborhood watch committee to assist the Police to reduce the menace.
He also expressed concern about the operation of some officers and urged the Regional Command to monitor critically the activities of his
officers to prevent the shame associated with Officers found guilty of certain misconducts.
The Regional Commander expressed gratitude to the Chiefs for their warm welcome and urged them to cooperate with the initiatives of the Command in creating a conducive environment for the people and residents of the Wa Municipality and the Region as a whole.
The interaction ended with questions from some Chiefs and favorable answers and clarifications were given by the Command.
