VIDEO: Traders Turn The Newly Constructed Pokuase Interchange Pavement Into Chop Bar

The construction of the four-tier Pokuase Interchange was started in 2018 and commissioned on 9th July 2021 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The interchange was financed by the Africa Development Bank and the Government of Ghana at an estimated cost of $98.4 million. This interchange connects Accra-Nsawam road, Awoshie-Pokuase road, Pokuase-Kwabenya-Ritz Junction road. This has made the venue very busy with pedestrians using this route every day.

Few days after this interchange was commissioned, some Ghanaians captured traders selling plantain, cassava, tomatoes, and all kinds of foodstuff on the pavement. Now it appears trading on the pavement is getting out of hand as some chop bar operators have been captured pounding fufu on the pavement at night.

Looking at the screenshot below, the traders have set a table on the pavement. A man and a woman pound the fufu as the other lady sells it. This is located right in the middle of the road. You can also see that cars are moving on both sides of the pavement. This is extremely dangerous for them as vehicles can run on them in case they generate a little fault.

This video was posted by a Facebook user known as Makus Gabbi. According to him, he recorded this video yesternight, 24th August 2021. Meaning these traders come at night and do their job so by day time, you will not see them.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A) and the Ministry of Road and Highways must act very fast to prevent something bad from happening they come in.
