According to BBC A woman has been stoned to death in Somalia after a court run by al-Shabab convicted her of having several husbands, the militant group says.

Shukri Abdullahi Warsame was accused of marrying 11 times, without divorcing her previous husbands.

She was buried neck-deep and pelted to death with stones by al-Shabab fighters, say residents of the southern Sablale town.

Al-Shabab practises a strict interpretation of Sharia law.

Enforcing the court’s ruling in Sablale town in the Lower Shabelle region, the woman was reportedly buried neck-deep in the ground and Al-Shabab fighters pelted her with stones until she gave up the ghost.

Masked men stoned 30-year-old Shukri Abdullahi Warsame to death in a public square, the report says. She was buried neck-deep and pelted with stones by al-Shabab fighters, according to residents of Sablale, BBC News reports.

A self-proclaimed judge claimed the woman confessed to having secretly married 11 men in a row without seeking a divorce.
