No matter what the economy looks like, one shouldn't act out of frustration and use unprintable words on the first gentleman of the land. It is an undeniable fact that the economy is in shambles and there are unbearable hardships in the system, however, exhibiting derogatory attitudes against someone old enough to be your father is below the belt.
A video circulating online shows some young men believed to be 'galamsey' workers venting their anger by pelting the signboard of the President with stones. The eagerness with which these guys acted, showed how disappointed they are with how things are going. In addition, they used malicious words to describe him, and from all indications, these are people with no conscience.
The glaring effect of illegal mining which is destroying water bodies and forest reserves compels the authorities to issue directives to halt the practice and that probably might have hurt them because they derive their daily bread from the menace. It is not clear if that is what has compelled this able-bodied guy to cast missiles at the president's picture.
Surprisingly, one of them exclaimed "me de abo n'ani" to wit "I have hit the eye," which seems to suggest these persons planned to do this. This shameful act must be condemned by all.
