The Ghana Police Band also known as the State Ceremonial Band happens to be the oldest professional musical organisation in Ghana and consists of the military or Ceremonial Band, brass band and the dance or pop band. They are well known for their entertainment and their ability to perform hiplife songs such as those by Nana Ampadu, Amakeye Dede to mention but a few at funeral gatherings, weddings or any kind of occasion you may invite them to.
The sad news is that they have been involved in a fatal accident as they were on their way to Somanya from Koforidua on the 27th of November. The driver who was taking them to Somanya, Kofi Asare, on reaching the Aperede to Somanya stretch told his passengers his brake has become faulty but assured those on board he will be able to climb the hill safely.
Unfortunately for the driver and the passengers who happened to be on the sprinter bus, couldn't make it safely and their bus went straight into a ditch after it somersaulted a couple of times. After the incident happened, the Akropong Divisional Motor Traffic And Transport Department rushed to the scene to rescue the accident victims.
Fortunately, there was no death recorded but four have been seriously injured and have been transferred from the Atua Government Hospital at Somanya to Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
We hope their treatment will be a success and wish them a speedy recovery.
