E/R: Illegal Miners, 13, Arrested At Accra Village And Other Places In Ghana

The taskforce of Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM) began an operation to expose and arrest illegal miners whose activities continue to create a mess in the mining industry on Thursday and Friday.

They started the operation in some villages of Accra, Mampong, Nkatieso, Mokyere and other places.

When the taskforce of Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners stormed these villages, they were able to arrest thirteen (13) West African Nationals and burnt some of the equipment they used in mining on the Birim river in the Eastern Region.

The main aim of these operation was to punish the illegal miners who contaminate our water bodies.

The Communication Director of GNASSM, Razak Alhassan stated that the association together with the security has deployed a strategy to expose and arrest illegal miners in Ghana.

Congratulations to the vice president of GNASSM, Sampson Kofi Wiredu and the secretary, Godwin Armah for the wonderful job they did to reduce some of the burdens of the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.
