Dr. George Akuffo Dampare sworn in as Ghana's 23rd Inspector General of Police (IGP)

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has been sworn in as new Inspector General of Police.

The president of Ghana on Friday, 8th October 2021, sworn in Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as Inspector General of Police at the Jubilee House. Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is Ghana's 23rd Inspector General of Police.

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare was appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on 1st August, 2021. Dr. George Akuffo Dampare resumed office as Acting Inspector General of Police after former IGP, James Oppong-Boanuh retired.

He has risen through the ranks of the Police Service, starting-off as a constable, and has served his nation dutifully. Today, he has been confirmed as Inspector General of Police.

According to the president of Ghana, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare will serve for the next four (4) years, as Inspector General of Police and also has demonstrated that he will be an effective leader of the Police Service, and will help foster its efficiency.
