Aspiring flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong has argued that investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas is a prime suspect in the unresolved Ahmed Suale’s murder case. According to him, investigations into this murder case should begin with Anas Aremeyaw Anas given the relationship they two had.
In an interview he granted Paul Adom Otchere recently, Kennedy Agyapong indicated that he had intelligence about a threat from Anas’ camp against Ahmed Suale a few weeks before he was gruesomely murdered in his neighborhood. He furthered that it was rather strange how Ghanaians were misguided in interrogating the matter objectively, adding that Anas managed to sway the thoughts of people with accusations that he [Kennedy Agyapong] was responsible for the Suale’s murder.
Kennedy Agyapong disclosed that there were attempts by Anas to get him arrested by the US government over this matter but to no avail. He mentioned that US authorities found him of no wrongdoing, and neither has the Ghanaian Police.
“Anas reported me to the US government. When I got to Houston they stopped me for about 7 hours. THey did their investigations, everything and they said go.”
He prayed that Ghanaians grant him the power to be President so he reopens investigations to get those culprits to book. He indicated that the matter had remained unresolved because of the lack of state interest.
“I believe in Police, here…competent Police. All these investigations they’ve done, pointed to me, Kennedy Agyapong. Are you saying they are not competent? What I will do as President is that I will encourage the Police, Security agencies to go and investigate it to the bottom.
“If I am elected today, whether the case is dead or not, I will bring it back again so that we can find those murderers,” he promised.
