Dampare Seen Wearing Dzenu Beads From Volta After A Two-Day Visit To The Volta Region

https://umebusinesses.com

The Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare went on a two-day visit to the Volta Region and was seen wearing beads in some of the pictures he took. The beads, known as Dzenu beads are royal beads mostly worn by chiefs in the Volta Region. The main aim for his visit was part of the service's Community Engagement Policing Strategy to help combat crimes in Ghana. He went with some members of the Police Management Board on the 18th of November 2021 and had interactions with the chiefs, Police officers and community members.

The towns the IGP visited includes Battor, Dove Junction, Sogakope, Akatsi, Dabala, Anloga, Keta Agbozume, Aflao, Denu, Tokor, Dzodze, Ave-Dakpa and Kpetoe. IGP Dampare and his team on the first day paid a visit to the family of the late Etornam Avulekpor who died during a police swoop early November at Akatsi.

The second day of the visit, the IGP joined the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Yao to officially open the 5th Volta Investment Fair 2021 at a young entrepreneurs breakfast meeting at Ho. The team also visited some other police officers and chiefs at Ho, Abutia, Anyirawase, Hlefi, Dzolo-Kputia, Golokwati, Hohoe, Alavanyo, Kpando, Anfoega, Have, Kpeve and Juapong.

They also paid a visit to some police officers who had been unwell for sometime now at their various places of residence. This is quite rare to see an IGP visit its junior officers to check up on them because of their health condition. The IGP has won the hearts of most Ghanaians with his new strategy in dealing with security and other issues in Ghana.

No wonder he was given a royal bead from the Volta Region. He also thanked all the chiefs and indicated that the police service was on a journey to move away from its past and work towards becoming a more responsive and respected institution. In relation to this statement, most Ghanaians can testify to the transformation so far in the police administration since Dr Dampare took office. He providing buses for police officers, putting a stop to police officers taking bribes and more.

This, we hope the IGP will keep up with the good work to make security a priority in the country as he transforms the police service.
