One Year After The Lynching Of Akua Dentor, NGO Calls For Criminalization Of Witchcraft

It has been a Year since 90 Years old Madam Akua Dentor was lynched by a mob for allegedly being a witch at Kafaba, a Village near Salaga in the Savannah Region.

The late Akua Dentor, who was accused of witchcraft was seen being harrased by youth in the Kafaba Town which led to her sudden demise.

This was after a female soothsayer was brought from a near Town to confirm that, the 90 Years old woman was a witch.

In a Ceremony to mark the one year anniversary of the unfortunate incident, Sanneh Institute an NGO has called on authorities to criminalize witchcraft in the Country.

Executive Director of Sanneh Institute, Prof. John Azumah indicated that, the Criminalization of witchcraft in the Country will stop people from accusing of witchcraft.

According to Prof. John Azumah, research conducted by the Institute revealed that, currently about 539 victims have been accused of witchcraft are currently in the various witch camps in the Northern and North East Regions.
