An accident has killed 6 people in the early hours of Wednesday, 7th July, 2021 at Suhum-Ominako road in the Eastern region. The rest of the passengers sustained several degrees of injuries and receiving treatment at the Suhum Government hospital.
The accident involves a crash between an oncoming Hyundai H100 urvan and a faulty trailer packed on a section of the Suhum highway on Wednesday morning. The hyundai urvan was carrying several passengers from Bunso to Nsawam on the same road.
The accident occurred at a spot where a faulty man diesel truck had occupied a half section of the road and another Guinness truck was also coming from the other half of the road. The hyundai driver not knowing where to pass hit the stationary truck killing 6 people on the spot whiles the rest of the passengers are in a critical condition at the Suhum hospital.
Angel Fm news correspondent, Francis, who went to the accident scene and proceeded to the Suhum government hospital had this to say, " the trailer developed some fault about three days ago and called for towing assistance from a nearby towing car to help remove the truck from the road but the towing car has still not turned up. The guinness truck was heavily loaded with drinks from Accra to Kumasi and crashed with the hyundai urvan at that place where the faulty trailer had been packed and there was no red triangle indicating a faulty vehicle on the road. The hyundai vehicle was coming from Bunso towards Nsawam - Accra direction and met the two big trucks on the left and right side of the road. If he moves to the left, Guinness truck was coming and the trailer was packed at the right side. The hyundai driver hit the back of the faulty trailer and swerve from the direction of the oncoming Guinness truck leading to the accident. The bodies of the six persons who lost their lives has been sent to the Suhum mortuary. The rest of the passengers are in a severe condition at the same hospital".
