The Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly has honoured the chief of Sagnarigu, Amb. Yakubu Abdulai, for the exceptional role he has played in advancing development in his traditional area. Led by outgoing Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mariam Iddrisu, the Assembly called on the Chief at his palace and presented to him a citation which celebrated him in one front and commended his efforts in another.
"Your support in the areas of Health, Sanitation, Education, Agriculture, Youth Development and many others in the Municipality is unmatched and the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly remains eternally grateful to you for your invaluable services to the Assembly and the community," part of the citation reads.
The Sagnarigu Municipality was carved out from the Tamale Metropolis in 2012, just about the same time, HRH Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai, a career diplomat, was enskinned as chief of the Sagnarigu Traditional Area. As the traditional ruler, he generously released vast lands for various infrastructural development including; the construction of the Municipal Assembly office complex, the Sagnarigu Girls' Model School Junior High School, the proposed Girls' Senior High School, and the ongoing construction of a Market Complex within the Municipality. He also provided the seed money for the takeoff of the Girls' Model Junior High School.
