The Shama District among other seven "7" assemblies in western region according to information gathered indicate that, they are yet to submit their District Medium Term Development Plan "DMTDP" to National Development Planning Commission "NDPC" for review and certification.
The District Medium Term Development Plan (DMTDP) for 2022 to 2025 is to guide the Metropolitan, Municipal, District Assemblies in its development.
Furthermore, Ahanta West, Amenfi East, Amenfi West, Effia-Kwesimintsim, Ellembelle, Jomoro, Nzema East and Shama Municipal and District Assemblies are likely to miss out release funds from the Ministry of Finance and the Common Fund Administrator failure to submit "DMTDP".
The implication for default per the National Development Planning System Regulations 2016 "L.I 2232" is that the affected Assemblies will not participate in the budgetary process and consequently miss out on the release of funds by the Ministry of Finance and the Common Fund Administrator.
"To give effect the new development policy framework "2022-2025" the Western Regional Coordinating Council engage MMDCEs, MMDCDs and MMDPOs on how issues of local economic development, climate change and Sustainable Development Goals 'SDGs' could be the mainstream into the new plan".
This was revealed when the Western Regional Coordinating Council led by Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah met fourteen "14" District Chief Executives at its first 2021 meeting in Takoradi Sub-Metro.
According to him at the time of Western Regional Coordinating Council's first meeting in 2021, only six "6" Assemblies including Mpohor, Prestea Huni-Valley, Sekondi-Takoradi Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Wassa East and Wassa Amenfi Central have submitted their development plans to the National Development Planning Commission "NDPC" for review and certification.
Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah therefore urged the defaulting Assemblies to rectify the anomaly as a matter of urgency.
