Latest: Dampare and his men are looking into claims of shooting evidence involving Shatta Wale.

Recently, the Ghana Police Service has been very proactive. It's amazing how quickly they now respond to issues just to ensure Ghanaians' safety. There appears to be a recent claim of a shooting involving Shatta Wale. The Ghana Police Service has responded with a statement on their official Facebook page. The following was the statement's content:

The attention of the police has been drawn to the widely circulated news on the alleged gunshot-attack on one Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale. On hearing the news the police has launched an investigation into the matter including making contact with some of his close friends and family members and all of them claim not to have knowledge on his whereabouts or the alleged incident. A team has visited the house of Shatta Wale and he cannot be found there. Over the last few hours the police have searched and continue to look for Shatta Wale in hospitals in Accra. Whilst we continue our investigation, the police is appealing to the public to provide any information concerning the whereabout of Shatta Wale.

The statement after it was realeased has also attracted some comments from Ghanaians. Below are some of the comments:

“He better shoot himself to make it real else this prank will over him. The way IGP Dampare is taking samba for changing the face of our police service. Don't test him with this !”

“Causing fear and panic. When arrested quickly arrange him before court and jail him.He want to disappear like 2pac shakor but it will never work, no way u can't break Castro's record la. “

“He must be arrested and charged with causing fear and panic. He made me sad for nothing. I want to insult his mouth but it’s ok. I nearly forgot I’m now born again.”

“If he is no where to be found why circulating everywhere that he has been shot and receiving treatment asemoo cman Ghana so now we cnt even think about how the public sector is full in peace”

Given Shatta Wale's popularity, it's not surprising that someone would want to go after him, but it appears that the majority of Ghanaians do not believe such an incident occurred to him. Regardless, we will have to wait for the police to release their findings following the investigation.
