I Will Support You To Become Article 71 Office Holders But I Won't Support You On This New Policy

FixTheCountry convener, Oliver Barker Vormawor has reacted to the recent statement made by IGP Akufo Dampare on Thursday.

In Oliver Barker's recent post on Facebook, he made it clear that he will support the Ghana Police Service to be part of the Article 71 Office holders in but he won't support what the IGP said about how officers who die in line of duty would be replaced.

According to Oliver Barker, this is a way to make the wards or children of police officers enjoy the same benefits their fathers have enjoyed. Also they don't want their children to suffer the same processes they passed through before getting in the service.

"I will support Police Officers also becoming Article 71 office holders. But as for this idea of recruiting their children into the same poor conditions of service, di3 come again. Police Officers also want their children to earn millions. Not to come and suffer like them in the terrible conditions. I know because my mum is a Police Officer. Never has she told me to go and pick police forms" he posted.(link)

This comes after Dr. George Akuffo Dampare revealed that officers who die in line of duty will be replaced by qualified relatives. He added that this initiative is to compensate the family for the loss of their kin.

"The relative will continue the works that you couldn’t finish because of your untimely death in line of duty. So it will be a way of pacifying the family for their loss" he said.
