“I would say I have helped about 5 million people to Europe as an agent. They are not all Ghanaians, but mostly west Africans. We charge them based on their travel arrangements. From Ghana to Libya, Libya to Italy, Ghana to Italy etc,” he stated.
According to Karim, his trips to Libya are by road and they mostly last a week due to the pandemic. He added that even though it is illegal, “living in Ghana has become difficult, no jobs, so people will leave.
Even pregnant women go to Italy by sea and become citizens eventually. Some people make about 3,000gh a month in Libya. So for now, travelling seems to be the best option for people,” Karim added.
