Christopher Mensah, 19 years, met his untimely death in a scuffle that ensued between him and his elder brother Emmanuel Ato Simpson, aged 21. According to eyewitnesses' testimonies, the two were spotted earlier on Sunday noon at a car washing bay at Effiakuma, a suburban community of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region; engaged in some verbal exchange.
It wasn't clear what the issue was about until it escalated to a deadly end. Emmanuel Ato Simpson pulled a dagger and stabbed his younger brother during the heated exchange.
Blood started oozing, causing young Christopher into shock, an eyewitness added. He was quickly rushed to the Grace Mission Clinic in the neighborhood for medical attention. He passed on even before an emergency procedure could be performed on him.
The police had been to the scene and commenced investigations into the murder. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Ato Simpson has been arrested and been charged with murder. He is to be arraigned before the court today 15 March 2021. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta morgue awaiting autopsy and preservation.
The Effiakuma community has become notorious for such cases. It has become a major security issue for city authorities for the past decade, the task of providing adequate security and warding streetism.
