Today would have been the 78th anniversary of Ghana's academician who became a president and sadly passed on to eternity whiles still serving his beloved country. Professor Joh Evans Fiifi Atta Mills is a household name and every Ghanaian remembers him for his humility and how gentle he was.
Popularly referred to as 'Asomdwee Hene' to wit the King of Peace, the legal scholar truly exemplified how peaceful he was in his utterances and actions. Born at Tarkwa in the Western Region on July 21, 1944, the former statesman strangely died on July 24th, 2012.
His death which occurred at the 37 military hospitals sent shockwaves across the length and breadth of the country as many were saddened by the unexpected news. He served from 2009 to 2012 and was married to Madam Ernestina Naadu Mills.
The former president is remembered worldwide and a top journalist has also eulogized him in a post on his Facebook wall. Kwabena Bobie Ansah recalls how the then president advised him to be content with what he had. He is full of admiration for the late professor and wished to meet him one day.
