The National Identification Authority Kpeshie Zonal Centre in Accra has suspended the registration of Ghana Cards following an alleged machine theft.
Centres have been set up in the Greater Accra Region and across the country to help issue and replace cards for Ghanaians looking to re-register their SIM Cards before the March 2022 deadline.
As a result of what has been reported as machine theft at the centre, the NIA has been forced to put on hold the ongoing registration as it looks into the mater.
Ghanaians who visits the venue are met with a notice at the gate indicating that the registration exercise has been suspended until further notice.
Amid the frustrations associated with the SIM re-registration, the National Communication Authority (NCA) and the telecommunication communication network companies are making efforts to make the process easier.
For the NCA, it has disclosed that it is setting up additional registration points across the country to ease the congestion on the existing points.
Telecom companies such as MTN is set to introduce mobile registration points to various locations as part of efforts to reduce the congestion at its Custom Service centres.
