Dumsor has damaged many of my appliances; resolve it quickly- Asantehene to NAPO

The Asantehene has revealed that the recent power outages in the Ashanti region have damaged many of his appliances.

“For about three weeks to a month now, I know my son [Matthew Opoku Prempeh] has been doing a lot of work but I was there one time when there was a sudden cut of power. I try to rest and the power goes off, all my appliances have been damaged due to that,” he said.

The Asantehene made the remarks when the Minister of Energy Matthew Opoku Prempeh paid a courtesy call on him to explain to him the cause of the recent power outages in the region.

The minister was accompanied by the Management of the Volta River Authority, Electricity Company of Ghana and the Ghana Grid Company Limited.

Responding to the complaints of the Asantehene, Opoku Prempeh assured the Asante monarch that was was working tirelessly to resolve the power challenges in the region.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana has said the power outages in the region will end on December 20, 2021.

In a joint press conferences, ECG attributed the current power challenges in the region to the damage on the 330kV Aboadze-Kumasi transmission at Bogoso, which has cut power supply to Greater Kumasi.
