The police have started looking into what happened when a police officer drowned in Sefwi Amoaya in the Sefwi Bodi District of the Western North Region.
On September 27, 2022, a Tuesday, the incident took place.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the deceased was a member of a police squad that was responding to a tip of illicit mining activity along the River Sui, the Police stated in a statement.
The statement read, "The Police have started an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the drowning of a Police Officer on September 27, 2022, at Sefwi Amoaya in the Sefwi Bodi District of the Western North Region.
According to the preliminary investigation, the regrettable incident occurred while the deceased police officer was a member of a police squad that was responding to a tip of illicit mining activities near the River Sui.
"Further information will be released after the family of the deceased officer has been appropriately notified, in accordance with our normal operating procedure and tradition."
