The owner of a mobile money shop at Apowa near the Western Region’s Capital of Takoradi woke up to meet very heartbreaking news. The young man, Kinsley Yeboah has also attached mobile phones and accessories to the shop. He has two workers helping him in the business but they all leave the shop to their various homes after a hard day’s work.
They came back in the morning of Monday, July 5, 2021, to meet an empty shop. The shop owner could not help the situation after meeting the sad spectacle. It is unknown when the armed robbers registered their presence in the community and decided to loot the shop but information indicates that they broke all the three padlocks securing the shop and gained access.
It is believed that the raid happened in the night when everyone was asleep. It was a field day for the armed robbers when they finally gained access to the shop. The only thing they left in the shop was the shelves used to keep the mobile phones and accessories. They made away with an uncountable number of brand new mobile phones, headsets, phone covers, and many others. The money used for the mobile money business was left in the shop including the phone. The armed robbers did not spare them when they bolted with everything.
The owner of the mobile phone shop, Kinsley Yeboah who looks dejected indicates that he brought brand new accessories and mobile phones just a day before the robbery. According to him, the items stolen from the shop worth over GHS 100,000, including an unspecified amount of money left on the mobile money phone. The armed robbers did not leave any trace and nobody has any idea of their current location.
However, the issue has been reported to the Kwasimitsim District Police Command and investigations have begun. Some persons in the area have started calling for the police to investigate the two workers in the shop because they are the only persons who have an idea that their boss has stocked the place. The lady employed to run the mobile money business also left the money made for the day in the shop for the first time. This makes people smell foul play. The intriguing part of the whole raid is that the shop is located just beside a busy highway at Apowa but that did not deter the armed robbers from carrying out their activities.
