It was a moment of sadness in Tamale on Wednesday afternoon, the 9th of March 2022 when the body of a young man was finally laid to rest.
The deceased was shot dead by unknown gun men when he was returning from his shop in town on Monday evening.
Eventhough, the Police are treating the matter as a robbery case, some residents linked the incident to the recent disagreements between two opposing Chiefs in Tamale the Dakpemah and the Gulkpenaa.
The two sides are fighting over who is the rightful Chief in Tamale.
As a result of the disagreements between the two Palaces, the Daphemah Palace was attacked by unidentified gun men in the early hours Monday, 7th March 2022.
In the process of the attack, the Daphemah Chief and 4 others sustained gun shot wounds and were rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for treatment.
There were reports that, the gun men said, the deceased young boy was not their target, raising questions on whether they were actually armed robbers or it was linked to the tensions between the Daphhemah and the Gulkpenaa Palace.
The final funeral rites of the deceased is expected to take place on Friday 11th March 2022.
May his soul rest is perfect peace.
