The Ghana Police in a Press Release on 2nd May, 2021 and signed by Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman (Mrs), Superintendent of Police, Director - Public Affairs is investigating alleged gathering by the Christ Embassy Church at Trade Fair Centre, Accra on Friday, April 30, 2021 in what they term as disregard of Covid-19 protocols putting the entire nation at risk of spreading the pandemic.
The police in the same Release said, it did not provide security for the said event and warns that those who breached the law will face consequences.
It further states that, Police Officers laid surveillance at the Christ Embassy Service Centre at the UPSA where a similar programme had been advertised to carry on. That programme was held with all covid-19 safety protocols being observed.
The Police in its Release further reminded all and sundry that actions that breach Imposition of Restrictions Act, will be subjected to the sanctions imposed by law.
Churches are allowed to hold services up to two(2) hours under strict covid-19 protocols duely adhered to including social distancing, wearing of masks, washing of hands and/or the use of hand sanitizers.
