Breaking News: Police officer shot and confirmed dead at Bawku, Upper East.

Sad things keep happening in the country as a police officer has been shot dead amidst the violence in Bawku, in the Upper East Region.

According to the Police, Constable Regina Angenu, who was with the Paga Police Station on Sunday, paid a visit to her colleague, Constable Erasmus Enkson of the Bawku Division. Unfortunately the two was attacked around 5:07 pm by unknown people.

The dead police woman was shot in the groin and died at Presbyterian Mission Hospital while undergoing treatment.

The body has been sent to Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, sources have disclosed that eight people sustained various degrees of injuries during the tension and were rushed to the Presbyterian Mission Hospital.

Following gunshots in the early hours of Monday, December 27, 2021, which resulted in the loss of lives and the destruction of properties in the township, insecurity has become a significant concern in Bawku.

There were reports of sporadic fatal shootings in the conflict-prone town over the weekend, forcing a curfew to be imposed by the Defence Ministry.

In a release issued on Monday, January 24, the police said Constable Regina Angenu on Saturday, January 22 around 5:05pm paid a visit to Constable Erasmus Enkson at the Bawku Division of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU)of the Ghana Police Service.
