Police Launch Massive Manhunt To Re-capture Jailbreakers

The police have launched a massive manhunt to re-capture six criminal suspects, who broke jail after a mob attacked the Police Divisional Headquarters in Nkoranza, where they were being held.

The suspects took advantage of the confusion created during the violent attack to flee.

The youth of the Nkoranza, upset and seething with rage over the extrajudicial killing of one of their own, 27-year Albert Donkor, by the police after they had arrested him in his mother’s property for his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on the Nkoranza-Kintampo road, took matters into their own hands and clashed violently with the police.

They are unable to understand why the arresting officers should take Donkor to the bush, shoot and kill him, dump his body in the bucket of a police pick-up vehicle and carry the corpse to Accra.

Two persons believed to be linked to the violent attack on the police divisional headquarters, which left one person dead and five others hurt, have now been arrested and taken into custody.

The family of Donkor has vowed to go to every length to get justice for him, claiming their relative was murdered to destroy damning evidence against some police officers he had caught right in the act of robbing people.

The Reverend Dr. Mathias Sarkodie, the family’s spokesperson, claims the police carried out the execution-style murder of Donkor because he had chanced on a robbery attack involving some police officers and was going to expose them.

“The police know what happened and we are inclined to believe they murdered him to destroy the evidence.”

The Rev Dr. Sarkodie said they would not allow the police to get away with the extrajudicial killing of an innocent person.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nkoranza South Constituency of the Bono East Region, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, has also been demanding punishment of police officers behind the execution-style killing.
