Nigeria has been facing a lot of security challenges over the years with no hope of ending at the near future.
A heavily unidentified armed gang attacked a prison in the southern part of Nigeria with explosives,authorities of Owerri,imo state said on Monday causing more than 1800 inmates to escape. That seems to be one of the country's largest jailbreaks.
The unidentified armed men engaged in a gun fight with prison guards of the owerri prison in imo state.
The spokesman for imo state corrections service said in an interview that the exact number of escaped prisoners was yet to be confirmed and they were putting the situation under control. It was said that the gun men arrived in pickup trucks and buses before getting into the facility.
The president of Nigeria,Muhammad Buhari has called the attack an act of terrorism done by anarchists.He said he wants the attackers and the escaped prisoners captured.
There has been a curfew imposed on two towns to protect residents.
The question is which people did the attack and why?
Where will these prisoners take cover in order not be re-arrested?
