Mother of the victim in the latest kidnap case in Takoradi, Agnes Essel says the police and medical officers have denied her and relatives an access to the daughter. She questioned the basis for which she is being denied the right of access to her daughter whom she had catered for over the past three months.
According to her it is unreasonably unfair given the circumstances the daughter is battling, adding that Josephine Panyin Simson needs the emotional support of the family more than ever. She lamented that that no word has been heard from the daughter since she was admitted at the Axim Government hospital after her rescue on Tuesday 21 September 2021.
Agnes Essel disclosed that the daughter is traumatized by the ‘evil’ she might have witnessed from her abductors, and prayed that she gets better soon despite the loss of her baby. She told the media that it is strange how the Police is turning them [herself and the husband] away from her daughter at this critical moment, especially when they are interested parties and direct relatives of the victim.
The mother indicated that the excuse given them was that Josephine needs some time to rest. But this hasn’t been convincing for the troubled mother who wish to know about the safety of the daughter.
“The doctors don’t want us to speak to her,” she added.
Asked how she received the news about her rescue, Agnes Essel said, she was relieved and went searching for the hospital card and health insurance of the daughter but only found the latter.
“Even when I heard about her rescue, I went searching for her card so we could help medical officer access her antennal records. But I search for it and couldn’t find it. I even took her health insurance hoping it would come handy at the hospital,” she disclosed.
