Our elders say when it’s a new day and we don’t hear bad news then it’s a bad day. This week, the news making headlines are all suicides committed by children and teenagers. It leaves one to be astonished by the trend of news.
Another 11-year-old child has also committed suicide just like Leticia’s own. Handing from a tree, his feats touch the ground and don’t have pull-out tongues, no faecal release or urine. However, he is dead, according to the UTV reporter. This type of suicide is strange as it begs the question: is someone behind this?
The 11-year-old ‘Class 3’ pupil stays at Dambai in the Oti Region. The day before his untimely demise, his mother invited him to go to the church and pray. However, he declined because he claimed he was having a headache.
Subsequently, he went to the room of a neighbour to watch a telenovela. The neighbour told him to wait outside as he finishes cleaning his room. Later, before he could finish and call out the boy, he heard people wailing and explaining that the boy is dead. He was horrified.
Just on Monday, a 16-year-old final year student of Miracle Senior High School identified as Leticia Kyere Pinaman also committed suicide. Meanwhile, the cause of her death is still under investigation by the Police in Sunyani.
