Turfo urged Duterte to declare a day of mourning for the death of Susan Roses
MANILA, Philippines- Broadcaster and senator-elect Raffy Tulfo urged President Rodrigo Duterte to honour the passing of veteran actress Susan Roces by declaring her funeral day a "national day of mourning."
Tulfo also suggested posthumously awarding Roces as a national artist.
“We ask President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a national day of mourning on the day he was buried. Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo (wife of Raffy Tulfo) will submit a resolution to the House next week honouring the legacy of Ms Susan Roces and recommend her for the posthumous National Artist Honorable Mention, ”he said in a statement on Saturday.
On behalf of her family, Talford also expressed her condolences to Senator Grace Poe and those who "loved and worshipped" the late actress.
“Few celebrities are loved as much as Ms Susan Roces. We, his fans, will never forget his “countless movies, TV shows and commercials,” he added.
Roces, known to many as the “queen of Philippine cinema,” died Friday night. She died at the age of 80 years.
The veteran actress was last seen in Fernando Poe Jr.'s adaptation of Ang Probinsyano. as Cardo Dalisay’s grandmother Lola Flora.
