There has been a plethora of crime in the Ashanti region and many other regions as well. Serial killing, stabbing, crime, robbery and many life-taking activities have become lucrative ventures that many teenagers and youths have indulged in. This is very alarming especially after hearing this matter reported by 3news.com.
A final year student of Oppong Memorial Senior High School at Kokofu near Bekwai in the Ashanti Region has allegedly been stabbed to death by a JHS pupil who is currently on the run. The 21-year-old SHS guy- Richard Kofi Appiah had a confrontation with the alleged murder on Saturday night. During the brawl, the JHS pupil stabbed the SHS guy- Richard and he was pronounced dead on Sunday morning after losing several pints of blood. An eyewitness narrated all this to 3news.com.
This matter leaves me with nothing but wonders what would have happened if COP Kofi Boakye was to be here in charge of Police operations in the Ashanti Region. This is very disheartening. Just last week Wednesday, I was returning from the market at 5:32 and there was a woman that was standing by the roadside. She sells yam and I personally know her because she sells yam to me at the market. Just when she was waiting for a commercial car home, one taxi speed drove in front of her and tried pushing her into the car, right in the midst of the public at Asafo labour.
It took a bold man who said the woman is his wife so he wouldn’t allow the men to take her and he struggled to take the woman from the four men with two in the car and two forcing the woman into the car. Such preposterous. People have grown the audacity and confidence to kidnap even in public- no fear, remorse or anxiety. They are certain they can go scot-free and it is true. Nothing will happen to them because there is no camera to record and/or report them with evidence.
This is when the case of Kofi Boakye comes inside. He proved to be a serious man who knows his job. He knew how to track and catch criminals when he was heading the police in the Ashanti region. This is the time he has to commence that work again and it will take the authorities in the security service to post him here. This is very unsafe and nobody in the region feels safe walking around especially in dark. My mother can’t even send my little 16yr old on errands because she is afraid something might happen to her.
Where is COP Kofi Boakye? We need him now!
