More Trouble For Josephine: Police To Prefer 3 Charges Against Her And Conspirators

The Police had taken a dive into the matter involving Josephine Panyin Simson and the alleged kidnapping she encountered on 16 September, 2021. The Acting Director, Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwasi Ofori has disclosed that three separate charges are likely to be preferred against Josephine, and her conspirators which includes the husband and the mother.

In an interview on Okay FM, ACP Ofori mentioned that the suspicion surrounding the kidnapping and loss of pregnancy had warranted they trigger investigations into crimes of conspiracy, creating fear and panic, and misleading public official. Albeit, the police according to the Police is offering some psychological support and other legal services to support the victim/suspect and the family in this case.

Asked if the police had shot down investigation into the alleged kidnapping by sacrificing it on evidence of the 'faked' pregnancy, ACP Kwasi Ofori said nothing will be left unturned in the matter. He assured of the Police's resolve to exhaust every lead into the matter, and not limit itself to the pregnancy issue.

"She is now a suspect in the conspiracy theory, and so we will look into all other things connected to the crime," he added.

ACP Kwasi Ofori corrected a misconception the public and especially the family have had about the ongoing investigation, that they are covering up for a crime committed against Josephine. He stressed that the Police is strictly relying on expert views and facts to prosecute the case, adding that emotions would have no consequence on the matter.

He expressed disappointment with the family and some residents who cursed the police and authorities over their personal belief that they are being misjudged, and that reports from medic who had examined their relative are false. ACP Kwasi Ofori intimated that the family and the public would appreciate the work down by the family when investigations are finally concluded.
