A deadly accident has claimed the life of a young boy who is popularly known as "Frenchman" from Kwapong.The accident occurred on Monday Evening, 22nd February 2021 at Pesewkrom, few meters away from Sankore in the Ahafo Region of Ghana.

The deceased driver is a native of Kwapong, being the third largest town in the Asunafo South District."Frenchman" is a hardworking young boy who devotes greater portion of his time working in the bush.

On that fateful day, "Frenchman" removed the small trailer of the Aboboyaa tricycle with the intention to carry some heavy beam of wood from the bush to sell them at Kwapong. The driver usually removes the back container so that he can carry more load. He uses strong rope to tie the beams on the tricycle.

When he crossed the Aboniyere river, towards Pesewkrom, there was a small hill on the road. At this point, the Aboboyaa tricycle lost ignition and moved in a reversed direction. The driver asked his mate to get down leaving the latter infront of the steering wheel. He lost control of the Aboboyaa tricycle after several failed attempt to bring the moving tricycle to a halt. The heavy beams on the machine began to fall down. The beams forcefully fell on him and pushed him to the ground. His body was pinned to the ground with severe fractures in the head and waist. The Aboboyaa tricycle finally landed on him as well. The heavy beams and the tricycle machine covered his body when volunteers assisted to remove him. Blood was oozing from his ears and nose. He died few minutes after passers by helped to remove the load from him.

According to eye witnesses report, the driver wanted to save the Aboboyaa machine from falling instead of saving himself. He could have saved himself just like the way he saved his working mate.

The working mate has safely return home.

The dead body was taken to the Akrodie Mortuary yesterday pending burial.
