Assemblyman Celebrates Mothers in Tweneboase Electoral Area With Initiative to Empower Teenage Girls

The Honourable Assemblyman for Tweneboase Electoral Area in the Asante Akim North Municipality, Hon. Amoako Gyampa, celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday, May 8, 2023, with a spectacular durbar at the Tweneboase Community Centre. The event was attended by a large number of mothers, as well as representatives from the Erudite Foundation, the Asante Akim North NPP Women's Organiser, health personnel, a representative from the GES Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly, and Hon. Beatrice Kyei, Presiding Member, Asante Akyem South.


In his speech, Hon. Gyampa commended mothers for their sacrifices and hard work. He stated that mothers are the backbone of society and that they should be honoured every day. He also announced an initiative to empower women and adolescent girls in the Municipality. The initiative provides educational opportunities, health care, and financial assistance to women and girls in the area.


The Erudite Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing educational opportunities, economic empowerment, Women's Leadership, Humanitarian Action, and Girls' mentorship. The foundation has been working in the Asante Akim enclave for several years and has helped to improve the lives of many young girls and women. The foundation was represented at the Durbar by its founders.

The Asante Akim North NPP Women's Organiser, Madam Rosina Ansah Bekoe, also spoke at the event. She urged mothers to continue to be strong and to raise their children to be responsible citizens. She also thanked the Erudite Foundation for their support in the initiative to empower women and adolescent girls.


The health personnel who attended the event provided free medical care to mothers and their children. They also gave out information on health and wellness. The representative from the GES Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly spoke about the importance of education and urged mothers to encourage their children to go to school.

Hon. Beatrice Kyei, Presiding Member, of Asante Akyem South, also spoke at the event. She praised mothers for their sacrifices and hard work. She also thanked the Erudite Foundation for their support in taking part in the event.


The durbar ended with a vote of thanks from a representative of the mothers. She thanked the Honourable Assemblyman, and all the other participants for making the event a success.

The initiative to empower women and adolescent girls in the Asante Akim Area is a welcome development. It is important to support women and girls in their education, health, and economic empowerment. This will help to improve their lives and the lives of their families and communities.
