A/R: Afari Military Hospital With 500 Bed Capacity Completed Project Abandoned (Video)

Ghana has a long to go, I ask for how long are we going to put a stop to partisan politics and adapt model for reactivating abandoned projects in this country, knowing very well that the projects aren't finance with pocket money of the preview goverment but rather taxpayers money. From Nkrumah to the current, are all culprits in this regard as they have failed to continue the programmes and projects began in the past by their predecessors.

Yesterday we were talking about, Saglemi Affordable Housing Projects which has been abandoned since the NDC left office.

Sadly another video is trending on social media coming from Afari near Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region, the very town for the site of Kumasi Military Hospital. The project is almost a completed 500 bed capacity hospital that was built by John Mahama in 2014 and was ready for commissioning in April 2017 till date the project has been abandoned.

The video is shared by the former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin, while he is on record saying; "I cut sod for this project in 2014 when I was a deputy minister, the hospital was supposed to be commissioned in April 2017.

Nana Akufo-Addo came to meet it like this, seems four years the hospital has been left in a bush".

Unfortunately in Ghana, when projects are abandoned there are no conscious efforts to ensure completion, instead, new projects are embarked upon, putting money, materials, time and effort to waste, and also, causing problem to the nation as whole.

This is really sad, NDC did same to NPP when they were in power, hmmmm my problem is that, we were in this country when President Akufo-Addo in his 8th COVID-19 address to the nation on COVID-19 announced that his government has decided to construct some 94 new regional and district hospitals to beef up Ghana’s healthcare delivery system, what prevented him to commissioned this as one of the hospital by giving credit to the previous goverment.

This issue presents some "latent hypocrisy" in us as Ghanaians and a great dereliction of duty on the part of the National Development Planning Commission. When you dare ask, they will start giving flimsy excuses, not being within budget, and not meeting requirements, people have inflated figures and on.

Nobody initiates a building project for abandonment, because an uncompleted building project is always a source of sorrow to its owner, an unfulfilled hope and aspiration - a failure to achieve a purpose. We have to start from somewhere or else after 2024 we will be here talking about the need to continue and complete what Nana Addo, didn't completed.
