Upper West Regional Police PRO, Mr. Gideon Ohene Boateng
The Upper West Regional PRO of the Ghana Police Service, Mr. Gideon Ohene Boateng has stated that Students of Simon Diedong Dombo University for Business And Integrated Development Studies SDD-UBIDS have taken the law into their hands by Assaulting a suspected miscreant who later lost his life in the Upper West Regional Hospital.
Explaining the issue, he went further to state that reports have gotten to them about robberies and as a result they have set up a barrier close to Bamahu(1Kilometer) before entering the town to monitor crime related issues and address them.
He added that the Assembly Member was summoned to his office regarding the development, according to the PRO, the Assembly Man denied knowing of the issues of crime in his area.
Assembly Member for Bamahu, Mr. Adams Yahaya Jiga had earlier on stated that he was informed about the development through whatsapp by a Resident of Bamahu.

Statement from the Police PRO on Assembly Man's Reaction
"We Invited the Assembly Man in the Person of Adams Yahaya Jiga but he denied the allegation, we heard the news being speculated on the media so we called him to let us know what transpired since he is living here because here and we are strangers and we are here to protect the public, we called him and he came, in this my office, the public relations office together with the CID, but he denied the allegations, when he was called, he said it was not any thing of that sort, he said he heard the allegations and that prompted him to call the police".
Statement of Police on Fighting Crime in Bamahu
" We have Opened our Tentacles, the commander who is in Charge, DCOP Franacis Aboagye Nyarko has been able to open the tentacles and we are to make sure that the general public sleep and sleep soundly in the Upper West Region here not only the Wa Municipality, we are using the motorbike patrols team and the vehicular team and they are all working to ensure things go on well, because of students, we have created barricade and we are there for them to know we are present, the criminals who think they are faster than the police, those who come to intrude, we will also give it back to them".
The Issue of Crime in Wa-Bamahu has been an Issue of Concern, in 2017, a Student of Bamahu UDS was Shot with other friends of his attacked by some notorious robbers at Three Sisters Hostel on 2nd July 2017.
The Issue resulted in the Student being transferred to Kumasi for Treatment, this development prompted management of the School to Install CCTV cameras in some hostels, it will be necessary for Management of the Institution to insist on certain standards including calling on hostel owners to provide security men for hostels and improve hostel lightening systems.
The Community headed by Adams Yahaya Jiga the Assembly Man should also deploy community Police into some residential areas to monitor issues.
