Apam. Gomoa Akyempem Tradit. Council Performs Rituals to Appease deities of drowned children

The Gomoa Akyempem Traditional Council, has performed rituals to propitiate the arch divinity of the area, Nana Apaa, and other lesser Dieties as well as the ancestors for the sins committed by the drowned fifteen children aged between 13 and 17.

It could be recalled that 15 children made up of 13 boys and two girls at Apam and other communities in the Central Region were drowned by the sea after engaging in merry making, dubbed '' Sunday Special ''. Findings gathered by the traditional rulers and other Stakeholders in the community indicate that this practice that end up defiling the sanctity of the abode of the archdivity of the area, has been and is continued to be condemned by the elders of the area. But the children continue to close their ears to it. It was therefore not surprising that the spiritual beings exhibited their anger that resulted in the dead of the 13 out of the 15 drowned children that chose to engage in merry making at the forecourt of the shrine of the archdivity of the area, Nana Apaa. It was to cleanse the defiled Beach and also appease the divinities of other possible mayhem that rituals were performed by the Gomoa Akyempem Traditional Council at the Apam Beach. The Sumankwaahen of the Gomoa Akyempem Traditional Council, Nana Okofo Annan, and others used our medium worldtvgh to caution the youth to take a lesson from what happened to the drowned children by respecting taboos that govern the society.
