Ghana has been recording more criminal cases lately. People are murdering, cutting human body parts and kidnapping. However, a cursory gaze at the geographical locations where these crimes prevalently occur has come to my attention and I wish to bring it to bear. People in these regions should herein be on a lookout and take very good care of themselves before the enemy befall them.
Data from the Statistics Research and Monitoring Unit (SRMU) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service indicates that some 306 murder cases have been reported to the police. The breakdown of the regions shows that the Ashanti region, Greater Accra and the Eastern Region recorded the highest. However, the Western and Central regions have also invested time in specializing in the act of kidnapping and taking ransom for return.
For the Greater Accra region, Kasoa could be cited for the teenagers who murdered their friend and also admitted that they once killed a pregnant woman in their pursuit of money. The Bono Region also had the footballer- Richard killing people and keeping them in fridges. He was alleged to be selling the body parts for cash. He was also alleged to have owned numerous taxis and an uncompleted mansion in the Abesim area. Yesterday, the pregnant woman who was kidnapped was found at Axim. She was spared because she was a twin- she narrated. She also added that there were more pregnant women who were used for rituals.
The true fact of the matter is, Ghana Police is doing their best to curb and if possible make these cases never happen again, but Ghana does not have in place proper mechanisms to monitor and trace crimes before they even occur. Unlike some other countries that can investigate and circumvent an explosion from happening, in Ghana, it will happen before the Ghana Police do the damage control. Therefore, if you’re a Ghanaian, you’ve no option other than to take good care of yourself.
We have few months to New Year and people are keen to make a move- whether dire or impressive. Most criminal cases are reserved for the latter part of the year. However, if the early part of the year is recording these astronomical figures, then the future is worth being careful of. I herein beseech all Ghanaians, especially those in the Greater Accra, Bono, Ashanti, Eastern, Central and Western Region should be on the lookout. Nobody can protect you than yourself.
