Road Accident

How Do You Expect Me To Be Safe In The Dark - Johnny Hughes Boldly Tells Government

The problems of non-functional street lights on our roads is undoubtedly another contributing factor to the road crashes on our roads at night.

An out-spoken TV3 journalist Johnny Hughes, has quizzed the government and those in authority, that how are they expecting him and other road users to be safe when our roads are in darkness.

Johnny Hughes made this statement on the 'New Day' on TV3 this morning, as a reaction to the non-existent or non-functional street lights on our roads.

According to him, there is no community in Ghana that doesn't have its street lights or something as important as traffic lights going off whereas we have too much sunlight going to waste.

"It is as if everything is okay. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) will come and tell us that; "oh! you have to feel safe, and everything is okay".

How do you expect me to feel safe in darkness if the street lights and road marking leading to my house are not there? - he said

He added that the High Way Authority is silent about these, and the National Road Safety will also come and tell us that this year only these number of people died in the first quarter of the year.
