LNP arrests 'Kuba' Gang leader Varney Kiazolu (#Azonto) In Paynesville

The Liberia National Police has arrested Mr. Varney Kiazolu, called Azonto, the head of a gangster group in Paynesville named Kuba.

The Liberia National Police arrested Azonto on Wednesday, January 6, 2021after the police said numerous calls were made to the LNP about the gang institution in Monrovia for deliberate harassment, torture and kidnapping of peaceful citizens.

Marvin Sackor, deputy police director made the revelation at a MICAT press conference in Monrovia on Thursday, January 7,2021.

 He said police is investigating Varney Kiazolu alias Azonto, head of the Kubah notorious gangster group.

The Liberia National Police recently declared Varney Kiazolu and members of his group wanted after wounding and harassing peaceful residents of Paynesville and burning a home on the Roberts field Highway.

Depuy Inspector General Sackor said that on December 16, 2020, a police officer identified as Albert Logan was severely attacked with his fire arm taken away by Azonto and followers.

He was quick to mentioned that  arm was retrieved by the Anti -Robbery unit of the LNP.

Meanwhile the Liberia National Police has charged Azonto and his gangs with multiple charges ranging from arson, criminal attempt to commit murder, armed robbery and illegal possession of fire arm in line with the penal code of the Republic of Liberia.
