The acting Inspector General of Police has been on the lookout with his men for criminals throughout the country. Although some criminals are still relentless in their bid to undertake criminal activities, George Akuffo Dampare has put a number of them under control.
Ghanaians could not restrain, but have expressed their joy at the update on the facebook page of the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo. The update has highlighted the president's support for the Ghana Police Service and the graduation of certain police officers of the cadet officers course to Senior officers.
The task ahead of the police is in every respect a herculean task since criminal activities are still on the rise in Ghana. The police officers are mostly in danger whenever they are at post, and when they are supposed to fish out and get hold of criminals.
Some of the officers have lost their lives as they undertake their official duties. No one can tell whether these criminals do hunt them even when they are not at post. We believe that it is highly possible that they would be hunted even when they are not in uniform.
This is because some of the criminals have been rooted out by the police recently. Some have been gunned down while others have been arrested and prosecuted. If they are found guilty, they would face jail term. Their arrest have also exposed certain individuals behind them. This could call for revenge on the part of the camp of these criminals anytime they see the police officers.
For this purpose, although the government have promised them protection through the provision of equipments, prayer is also needful.
It is in this regard that George Gaddafi has said this word of prayer for the police in his reaction to the president's post.
Frankly, it is only God that can help them overcome the temptation of bribe, the attack of criminals and present them healthy and faithful to the service of the nation.
