Flashback:How Anas Discovered Orphans Neglected, tortured And Died At Osu Children's Home Saddened

Orphans and less privileged children are taken care of by special organized welfare homes. The only unfortunate thing here is that the orphans and the vulnerable children removed from dangers are placed in orphanages and children homes located mostly far away from the families and the communities of these children.

Thus, currently, in Ghana, children homes and orphanages have become a well recognized and widespread child welfare protective social interventions. This has no doubt given rise to a sharp increase in the number of charlatan orphanages and children homes across the country with an estimated children population of not less than 4000. This has not in any way guaranteed protection for our vulnerable children due to lack of regulations and monitoring.

Disguised as a pastor by the name Reverend Abednego Akpabli of the Christ of Jah Church, the ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas infiltrated the Osu Children's home in an uncover investigation over there. For months he worked assiduously to earn the trust of the children who confided in him the real situation and treatment meted out to them.

They revealed to him the abuses, torture and neglect by the Authorities has led to the death of some of their friends. For the disabled children, they suffer unimaginable pain as they are kept at a particular position, fed with food and made to defecate at the very same place. These were children with special needs and as such needed special care but this was not the situation they found themselves in.

Anas who wasn't satisfied with the little information received, decided to go further by disguising himself and posing as a rich lady philanthropist by name Hajia Bilkisu from Mali. This was all in effort to get first hand evidence into the mysterious death of some of the disabled children. Truly Hajia Bilkisu saw Yaw Moses who was full of life die in bizarre circumstances which was avoidable.

The young 9 years old disabled boy was confined to a wheelchair. He ate, slept and was kept in a dark room. This didn't prevent him from sharing his joy with the other kids when they played around. But he fell from his wheelchair and got injured on the floor. He wasn't attended to by the staff or given any medication and subsequently died miserably.

Anas for all these 7 months, kept recording with about 30 secret cameras of the bad incidents such as sharing of foodstuffs donated to the orphanage by the care takers among themselves, burnt toys which was suppose to have been given to the children and the death of a number of inmates.

Through Anas efforts the happenings in the facility was brought to light and the relevant authorities took steps to rectify the anomalies. A committee was set up to investigate and the findings submitted to the relevant authorities.
