President Akuffo Addo has directed the engineering council of the works and housing ministry to conduct an integrity audit of all public infrastructure to ensure their preparedness towards any natural disasters.
In the event of an Earthquake of higher magnitude, we must ensure that our buildings, Bridges and Dams can withstand the natural disasters.
The president explained that, conducting this audit on public buildings and infrastructure, and advising the government appropriately, will enhance our preparedness toward such disasters.
The president also called on the Ghana Geological Survey Authority to advise the government on the logistical requirement needed to undertake round the clock monitoring of the natural disasters for urgent response. He also called on NADMO and GES, to educate the public and children on these pertinent issues. Finally, Local Government ministry, ministry of Works and housing including Ghana institute of Engineers to collaborate to create modalities to guide the building of infrastructure.
