Residents Of Eshiam In Western Region Demonstrate Over Deplorable Road

We have very bad roads in Ghana especially in the suburbs and in my opinion it is becoming unbearable. Having good roads could do so much like boosting productivity and better our way of life.

It is quite surprising that when those in power decide to build or rebuild roads, they do it haphazardly that those roads develop pot holes in just some few months and again become unmotorable.

In the early hours of today, residents of Eshiam a town near Kojokrom in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region blocked the road from Eshiam to Inchaban Nkwanta over its deplorable state. They lament that the road produces serious dust and it is also not accessible when it rains.

Speaking to some residents, they revealed that several complaints have been made to the government through their Assembly man and the Major of Sekondi. They have also complained to companies who operate in the area to help fix the road but all these complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

In an interview with one of the demonstrators, he told that it is the 3rd time the community is embarking on a demonstration to get the road fixed.

He also revealed that there are about six big companies operating in the community that ply the road with big trucks and have petitioned them to at least contribute in fixing the road but at the end they get empty promises.

In effect they have decided that until they see machines on the road ready to fix it, they will never leave.
