A popular lawyer who is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has come out to state clearly that how Bishop Owusu Bempah was arrested cannot be accepted when it comes to the constitution governing the country.
Maurice Ampaw speaking on Wontumi television said that what the law says is that when police comes to you, there are two things involve and the basic one is trey always invite you to the police custody for questions which you must answer them clearly. Owusu Bempah wasn't invited and all what he was going to the police station to do was a follow up about his junior pastor and that was when they arrested the Prophet.
This arrest was useless because the Prophet wasn't invited not charged of any allegations and even when he went there, it was a follow up he was interested. Someone can be arrested by inviting him or going to his place to arrest him by charging him with allegations which have evidence. Even with that arrest, the suspect can tell you to go an he will come later or the police can allow the suspect to call his lawyers. We are living in a country governed by constitutional and police must respect that. Maurice Ampaw concluded.
