Member of Parliament for the Sissala West, Mr. Mohammed Sukparu has called on government and other development partners to come to the aid of his constituency following destruction to schools homes and government buildings during a windstorm yesterday.
Several government buildings and homes got ripped off in the evening at Gwollu which left many residence stranded, school structures and government facilities unable to function.
The epic center of the destruction happened at the Hilla Limann Senior High school,where a four square dormitory had its entire roof ripped with water seeping through and destroying students ware and other personal effect all soaked and scattered.
According to an eyewitness the rain started at 4pm to 5:30pm and was accompanied strong winds that caused the damage.
Electricity poles,pylons have not been spared cutting power supply to the Gwollu area and Leo.Mr Abu of VRA/NEDCO said 'We are very sorry to inform customers on the line that we lost about 15 High Tension poles and a number of LV poles due to the yesterday rain storm ,because of this the line is isolated awaiting for contractor to replace and repair the line.
Homes of residence were affected as NADMO was carrying out stock taking.
Mr Mohammed Sukparu ,the MP for the area and his team visited the affected sites and pledged to assist restore broken structures and damages for services to be continued to serve his constituents.
On the students of the Hilla Liman Snr high school whose dormitories got flooded,they were made to perch and pair with their colleagues until a makeshift accommodation is made available for them.In the meantime the Member of Parliament is donated some items to the students affected by the rain storm.
