In one week, aside loosing their social activists and political commentator to the gruesome killing by unidentified men, the elder brother of Kaaka, is also in the Police custody, on charges that, he may be responsible for his brothers death.
Whereas the family have described this allegations by the Police as part of their investigations frivolous, it di not end there, as friends and comrades of the late brother, in their protest to register their displeasure, have also resulted in two others dying needlessly and four others seriously injured from a security man, who took a bow, to perfectly target and shoot the unarmed citizens, in broad day light.
The extent of these seemingly unending and sickening challenges, may have come to bear when during an interaction between the family and the Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery, during a visit by the minister, a video has popped online, which shows that, the biological mother of Kaaka, fainted and had to be rushed to the hospital, to save her from also passing on, something which would have added more pains to the family.
Many have argued that, this may be a clear sign that, in such cases of heightened emotional discomfort, maybe, the best approach is to provide professional psychological help and not ministers of state, visiting for the purposes of news coverage or whatsoever.
The Interior minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery had arrived at Ejura yesterday, in a Ghana Armed Forces Helicopter, together with some high officials of security. He visited the family and also made some important announcements over the public enquiry, to the family and neighbours, who showed up at the family's house for the meeting.
Its a sad scene indeed and with varied commentary, many have since shared the video online, where a young man is seen hurriedly carrying her away, with no ambulance in sight, to provide fast access to either first aid or to the hospital, sadly, as seen in this video link here at Facebook (VIDEO)
Fast forward, the brother, arrested as a key suspect is now at the Asante Mampong Divisional Command, as the regional command now handles the entire investigations and still in cell, despite calls by the family of the late Kaaka and his grieving wife, that, he is not the killer behind Macho Kaaka's murder.
Whereas the family have publicly sworn by the Holy Quran, to symbolize their strong conviction that Kaaka’s brother played no part in the death of the deceased, Mrs. Sa’ada Hudu, the Wife of the murdered Kaaka, insists also passionately that, the allegations that, his brother is responsible for his death are false allegations, as with tears, Sa’ada Hudu said on that faithful day she saw two men around the neighborhood who later engaged her husband, later turning into a hostile exchange, soon after which she saw the late Kaaka in a pool of blood
In the video sighted online here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XH2Jkvw9v0, the already grieving family, is of the opinion that, the Ghana Police Service must rather concentrate their efforts on the killers, as the arrested brother is not the one responsible.
The Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has set up a three-member committee to investigate the circumstances which led to the deaths of three people in Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The committee has Justice George Kingsley Koomson as its chairman, together with Vladimir Antwi-Danso, an international relations expert, and Juliet Amoah, the executive director of Penplusbytes, as members.
“I’m announcing to the nation for the first time that I have set up a three-member ministerial committee to conduct a public inquiry into the unfortunate occurrences on Tuesday 29 June 2021,” Dery said.
In line with a presidential directive issued on 30 June, he has given the committee a ten-day ultimatum to submit its report.
President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday instructed the Interior Minister to conduct a public inquiry into the circumstances in Ejura which led to the “unfortunate occurrences of Tuesday 29 June 2021”.
A statement signed by Eugene Arhin, the acting director of communications in the Office of the President, said: “The Interior Minister is to provide a detailed report from the inquiry, with recommendations for appropriate action, within ten days, ie, by 9 July 2021, to President Akufo-Addo.” The statement said the president has been deeply saddened by the death of Ibrahim “Kaaka” Mohammed, a well-known citizen journalist in Ejura.
