Ashiyie Road Accident: Four confirm dead and Three in critical condition 

A mini trailer has caused havoc and pain to the residents of Ashiyie, after it crashed four people to death on the spot yesterday. The accident which occurred around noon yesterday, saw a mini track driver crashing his loaded truck to another loaded mini truck, on the Adenta road at Ashiyie. Ashiyie is a town that lies half in Ningo Prampram, and the other in Adenta municipality. It is the only town that lies in two jurisdictions, on the Prampram bay of the Greater Accra. Ashiyie is a residential community which consists of civil workers and government appointees, because of its Estates. It was a community purposely created to house government appointees in Accra by the Kuffour government, but lost track when land allocations were sold to normal civilians to occupy, because of the pressure on Adenta community. 

A block factory which produces blocks for construction purposes, loaded one of its trucks to deliver goods to the owner at Ashiyie residential area. The owner of the blocks was to take delivery of the items around 10 in the morning, but traffic couldn't make it possible for him to receive his goods. The truck driver who didn't know the site for delivery was constantly on the phone with the blocks owner, taking delivery instructions. Since he was not going to be there, because of their delays. 

The driver after hanging up the call with the owner of the blocks, heard his phone ringing again. Instead of parking and receiving the call, the driver thought otherwise and picked the phone whiles on the road. Just seconds away to the Tee Junction, where the driver should have slow down and navigated the junction, he forgot himself on the phone. And ploughed through the junction, murdering innocent pedestrians. The driver who didn't know the road, lost concentration of the car because of the phone call, and couldn't do anything to remedy it. 

In an attempt to stop the car from crashing into the traffic, he used a pedestrian pavement which was not road worthy, and ended up crashing into civilians. The blocks started feeling from the truck, because of the rough road he took in other to save himself from crashing into traffic. A nose masks seller selling nose masks on the pedestrian pavement for travellers, was the first to be hit from the blocks. One of the blocks went through her direction, and crashed her to death without a sound. 

Three other people who were standing by her, also received several hits from the blocks, and died on the spot too. The truck went through an incoming loaded provisions truck, which had just offloaded half of its goods to a customer. That crash saved the blocks truck, from further causing harm. Three people standing in front of their houses, near the provision shop were all affected, and was rushed to the Adenta hospital for emergency treatment. The truck driver sustained minor injuries, and was doing well. All loading attendants, sitting in front of the truck with the driver, were also doing fine. All the four people died on spot whiles the three are still in the hospital recovering from their injuries.
