An Immigration Officer And 3 Policemen Arrested For Stealing Money From A Gold Dealer In Bole

An Immigration officer and three policemen have been arrested by the Savannah Regional Police Command for stealing huge sums of money from a Gold dealer in Bole. The security personnel consisting of Soldiers, Police service, Immigration service and Fire service personnel in the Savannah region engaged in a joint security operation at galamsey sites in Bole.

During this operation, they gathered intelligence that some of the suspects who were into illegal mining had unlicensed guns in their possession. Therefore the security personnel entered into the houses of some of the suspects.

It was during this that an immigration officer, Assistant Inspector Awuku Kumi Joseph - 38 years and three Policemen (Const Appiah Christian - 24 years, Const Apraku Augustine - 28 years, Const Owusu Ansah Richmond - 30 years) entered the house of a gold dealer.

They did not find any weapon in the house but went ahead to steal money and phones from the man. The immigration officer alone took GHS 10,880. Const Appiah Christian Jnr also took GHS 4,135 and the other police officers took mobile phones. The four security personnel are in police custody at Savannah Regional Police Command in Damango.
