Arrest Prof Frimpong Boateng Now- Captain Smart Tells Akufo Addo

Popular radio broadcaster, Captain Smart has charged the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to cause the arrest of the former Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Prof Frimpong Boateng, with immediate effect. According to him, there are evidence that suggest Prof Frimpong Boateng is responsible for the government’s failure in combating illegal mining, which is popularly referred to as galamsey.

Captain Smart on Angel Fm’s morning show argued that the former Minister of Environment, Science and Technology [Prof Frimpong Boateng], owned mining concessions and a company that employed the same techniques as the illegal miners. He indicated that the company had Prof Frimpong Boateng and his wife as directors of the company, and were actively in business when the fight against galamsey had intensified.

He mentioned that the former IMCIM Chairman failed to disclose all of his interest as required by law when he was appointed by the President, and thus caused a huge conflict with the task he was assigned.

“I have a copy of the business registration document of his mining company. I pulled it out. That was the time galamsey fight was flopping. I decided to investigate all these. I have seventeen names; 10 are NPP and 7 belong to the NDC. Nobody should dare me. Frimpong Boateng has his wife as first and second directors of the company.

“So, the time he was appointed as the Chairman, did he disclose his interest? Did he tell him in 1990 he was mining? That in 2013 he told the President that he and his son are into mining? People cannot not afford quality drinking water. Your Excellency, I am repeating, arrest Prof Frimpong Boateng. When he was fired no reason was given but we know it was galamsey that caused his disappointment,” he fired.

Captain Smart hinted that he has a dossier of information that incriminates some military officers at the flagstaff house about some dealings they have with illegal miners. He clarified that these officers smuggle arms that had been confiscated from these illegal miners and return them to some of their operatives to guard their concessions.

“We have names of the selected military officers at Jubilee House who had taken bribes from galamsey operators. I am sending this warning; this should be the last warning. All the arms that were confiscated have been returned to these galamsey operators. If you know you, are one be warned.”
